While you’re in Whistler, you absolutely need to go to Cows for ice cream & check out their store for fun shirts.

Although Whistler is better known as a ski town, many of the trails are open in the summer for hiking. If you plan to go up Whistler or Blackcomb Mountain, you can purchase a sight-seeing pass which gives you access to lifts and the Peak-to-Peak Gondola.

I highly recommend taking the lift up Whistler Mountain and going up to the suspension bridge

You don't need to hike to get tickets to the Peak-to-Peak, the lift service from one mountain to the other, which offers stunning 360-degree views of Whistler Village, mountain peaks, lakes, glaciers and forests

Whistler has 5 major lakes (Alpha, Nita, Alta, Lost, and Green), all within walking/cycling distance from the hotel - note some are further than others. The lakes have swimming docks, and grass/beach area to relax.

Lost Lake: easiest access from town and the Fairmont, great for hiking, biking, swimming & picnics as there is a large grassy area.

Alta Lake: best for paddleboarding, canoeing, sunrise/sunset views. This lake is located at Rainbow Park, which is a local favorite for its wide beaches, grassy park, volleyball courts and incredible views of the mountains.

Alpha Lake: best for families and laid back afternoons in the grassy picnic area.

Green Lake: best for scenery and photography. This is the coldest lake and has a dramatic turquoise color due to the glacial silt.

At some of the lakes, you can rent paddleboards, kayaks & canoes. There are no motorized boats for rent on the lakes in Whistler.

Cycling from lake to lake is a great way to explore the local area. There are very clear walking/cycling paths around town to get from lake to lake. 

If you prefer cycling for sport, Lawrence frequently trains for triathalons & iron men here, so he would be happy to provide some recommendations :) 

With its array of shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants, the pedestrian-only Village is a destination unto itself, nestled right at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains.

Pro tip: Whistler has some incredible sales on in the summer for skis, snowboards and winter apparel
